- real estate lending, including interim, permanent and mezzanine loans for multi-state, multi-property transactions
- sale and acquisition of whole loans and participation interests
- originating loans for sale to Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac
- real estate acquisitions and dispositions
- certain aspects of payment and performance bonds, letters of credit, construction contracts, property and liability insurance
