Robert M. Shinehouse

Biography

Robert Shinehouse concentrates his practice on business and commercial litigation. He has experience litigating all types of disputes in state and federal courts, as well as in arbitration, including:

  • Claims for breach of contract and business torts
  • Products liability
  • Healthcare data
  • Securities fraud

Robert has been a member of litigation teams that have successfully defeated breach of contract and misappropriation of trade secrets claims seeking in excess of a billion dollars, as well as obtained favorable settlements for clients in wrongful death actions against a nationwide manufacturer of child products.

Robert also plays an active role in Blank Rome’s pro bono program, having devoted over 100 hours to pro bono causes each year since joining the firm. Robert has volunteered with the Pennsylvania Innocence Project, which works to secure exonerations for the wrongfully convicted, in addition to serving small business owners in the Philadelphia area in need of legal assistance.

As a result of his work with the Pennsylvania Innocence Project, Robert received the 2022 Blank Rome Pro Bono Hero Award, the 2023 Philadelphia Bar Association Large Firm Management Committee Public Service Award, and was a co-recipient of Blank Rome’s 2024 Edwin P. Rome Pro Bono Achievement Award, which recognizes outstanding performance and a demonstrated commitment to pro bono legal service.

Robert was previously a judicial intern for the Honorable Mitchell S. Goldberg with the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.

Prior to law school, Robert worked for two years as a paralegal for a large, national law firm, assisting with complex class action matters.

While obtaining his undergraduate degree, as part of the Honor Advocate Program, Robert represented students accused of violating Washington and Lee University’s honor system.
