Muehlbauer joins host Eric Tower for a conversation about his storied career at the North American Spine Society (“NASS”) and his new book titled “Roadmap to Innovation.” The podcast covers how spine health has shifted over time, medical device innovation and what it takes to bring new medical devices to market—including securing FDA approval, proving to payers why they should cover a product, convincing doctors to use the device, and more—the potential impacts of artificial intelligence on the industry, the most intriguing areas for spine development, and how NASS membership is changing. 

Eric Muehlbauer, MJ, CAE has been Executive Director of the North American Spine Society since September 1994. He became a Certified Association Executive in 2002. He has a Bachelor of Arts from Knox College, a Master of Jurisprudence in Health Law & Policy from Loyola University Chicago Law School, and completed coursework on Non-profit Management at Harvard University School of Business. He is a member of the American Society of Law, Medicine and Ethics (ASLME).
