Biography

CO-CHAIR, MATRIMONIAL AND FAMILY LAW PRACTICE GROUP

Brett Ward concentrates his practice in all areas of matrimonial and family law, including divorce, paternity, custody and child protective matters. Brett has extensive experience in negotiating prenuptial, separation and settlement agreements. He has significant litigation and trial experience in New York’s Family and Supreme Courts. Brett also has experience with international custody and child support matters. Brett has also successfully appeared before the appellate courts. Brett has served as a mediator and as an expert witness on New York family law issues.

Professional Activities

Brett is a member of the Executive Committee of the Family Law Section of the New York State Bar Association and the co-chair of the Continuing Legal Education Committee. He is co-chair of the New York County Lawyers’ Association Committee on Committees, serves on the Association’s Matrimonial Law and Family Court Committees, and is a former member of the Association’s Board of Directors.  Brett is the Co-President of Brandeis University’s New York Alumni Chapter and sits on the University’s Alumni Board of Directors.

Brett is also a neutral evaluator for the New York Supreme Court, donating hours to assist matrimonial litigants in resolving their cases without the need for trial.
