Blank Rome Secures Victory for Campbell Soup Company

Blank Rome secured a victory for Campbell Soup Company, with respect to an application that it filed, in conjunction with the Camden Redevelopment Authority, to place the vacant Sears Building on the “to be acquired” list of properties in the Gateway Redevelopment Plan. On February 8, 2011, the case went before Judge Francis Orlando in the Superior Court in Camden, NJ, who accepted all arguments that our team made on behalf of our client, and rejected and dismissed all claims made by community organizer Frank Fulbrook and his financier and owner of the building, Ilian Zaken. This victory paves the way for possible eminent domain proceedings and demolition and has made national headlines as the issue of public/private redevelopment efforts continues to be of great interest across the U.S.
