Saving America’s East Coast Refineries

2013 National Brownfields Conference

Atlanta, Georgia

Michael L. Krancer, partner and practice group leader of Blank Rome's energy, petrochemical and natural resources practice group, will speak on "Saving America's East Coast Refineries – Three Philadelphia Case Samples" at the 2013 National Brownfields Conference in Atlanta, GA on Friday, May 17 from 1:45 p.m. to 3:00 p.m..

Mr. Krancer will be discussing his role, as Secretary of the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection, in saving the two Southeastern Pennsylvania Refineries and having the third repurposed into a major natural gas liquids processing facility.  This attraction of new investment in east coast refining assets and creation of new investment linking the Philadelphia area to natural gas production and development occurring in the western part of Pennsylvania was, perhaps, the most dramatic economic, and geopolitical story of the year and it attracted attention from around the world.

He will be joined by fellow panelists:

  • Moderator: Denise Brinley, TRC Companies
  • Speaker: James Fallon, IHS
  • Speaker: Lisa Runyon, PES

The National Brownfields Conference convenes every eighteen months and is the largest event in the nation that focuses on environmental revitalization and economic redevelopment, attracting over 6,000 stakeholders in brownfields redevelopment and cleanup to share knowledge about sustainable reuse and celebrate the program's success.  During the event, registrants will have the opportunity to attend over 100 educational sessions including panel and plenary sessions, discussion-based roundtables and town hall meetings, and film screenings.
