Environmental Intelligence in Shipping: Safety at Sea

Blank Rome Maritime is proud to be a sponsor of the 2011 National Maritime Day ("NMD") Seminar, hosted by the North American Marine Environment Protection Agency ("NAMEPA") and the North American Maritime Ministry Association ("NAMMA"), on May 23, 2011 at The National Press Club in Washington, D.C. from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.  The seminar will be followed by the National Maritime Day dinner and annual AMVER Awards, which will honor Congressman Frank LoBiondo and Admiral Robert Papp, Commandant U.S. Coast Guard ("USCG").

This year's NMD Seminar will focus on the theme of "Safety at Sea" and will include panel discussions on the following topics:

Emergency Preparedness & Response Regulatory Update

  • Deepwater Horizon legislative response
  • Jones Act issues
  • Salvage and firefighting regulations
  • Shipowner readiness

Seafarer Issues

  • Piracy impact and implications
  • STCW update and implementation
  • Terminal access for seafarers
