Virginia Offshore Wind Conference 2011
Virginia Beach Convention Center

Joan M. Bondareff, of counsel at Blank Rome, will be a panelist at the Virginia Offshore Wind Conference 2011 on June 22, 2011 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:40 a.m. at the Virginia Beach Convention Center.

Ms. Bondareff's breakout panel session will focus on "Conflicts at Sea," which will discuss the potential conflicts between offshore wind turbines and human activities (i.e., fishing, shipping and military training) on the waters off Virginia's coast.  Ms. Bondareff will be joined by panelists who are leaders in the Department of Defense, U.S. Navy and U.S. Coast Guard, the Port of Virginia, the Virginia Maritime Association, and the fishing industry.

This year's conference will be held from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and will be followed by a reception.  The event will be broken out into four different concurrent sessions throughout the day that will focus on topics such as financing offshore wind development, the use of Virginia-made wind turbines, benefits of wind energy to the State of Virginia, infrastructure costs and opportunities, environmental impacts, technology updates, and connecting to offshore grids.
