Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service

Washington, Philadelphia, New York

On Monday, January 17, 2005, Blank Rome volunteers honored the life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. by engaging in service projects.  This year, Blank Rome sponsored City Year service projects Philadelphia, New York, and Washington, D.C.

The City Year project in Washington, D.C. involved painting and refurbishing a homeless shelter run by the Community for Creative Non-Violence (CCNV).  “It was a wonderful example of how a small number of people could get a job done with togetherness,” said one of over a dozen Blank Rome volunteers and family members who braved the cold that morning.  “it gave me a wonderful feeling for the rest of the day.”
