Blank Rome’s Scott Cooper Presented with the Honorable Nathaniel R. Jones Diversity Award
Blank Rome Partner Scott F. Cooper, who serves as chair of the Firm’s Labor and Employment practice group, was presented with the Honorable Nathaniel R. Jones Diversity Award at Blank Rome’s award reception on January 26, 2017, in the Firm’s Philadelphia office.
The Honorable Nathaniel R. Jones Diversity Award is presented annually to a Blank Rome attorney or professional who has demonstrated outstanding leadership in promoting diversity within the Firm. The award is named after Blank Rome Of Counsel Judge Nathaniel Jones, who previously served as the Firm’s first Chief Officer for Diversity and Inclusion.
The reception featured a keynote by Nydia Han, 6abc Consumer Reporter, and co-anchor of Action News Sunday mornings in Philadelphia, and remarks by Blank Rome Partner Christopher A. Lewis, who serves as the Firm’s Chief Officer of Diversity and Inclusion and co-chair of the Diversity Committee.
In his remarks, he commended Mr. Cooper for being a champion for diversity and inclusion in the Philadelphia legal community, and noted Mr. Cooper’s efforts to recruit minority and female attorneys into the Labor and Employment practice group, which has one of the highest percentage of female attorneys of the 17 practice groups at the Firm. Mr. Cooper was also applauded for promoting the careers of younger attorneys, and for being a consistent advocate for work-life balance and flexible work arrangements, not just within his practice group, but also as a member of the Firm’s Partner Board.
