Michael E. Plunkett, partner in Blank Rome’s Philadelphia office, was quoted in a Law360 article regarding a recently released U.S. Centers for Disease Control report that could put pressure on the Obama administration to implement new food safety laws.

The report showed that the number of reported salmonella infections went up by 10% from 2007 to 2011, and comes at a time when consumer groups, food companies, and lawmakers are all pressuring the White House to put the Food Safety Modernization Act into effect.

“I think [the CDC report] will perhaps create some headlines, but I don’t see the new data as having a real impact on the timing of the new rules,” said Mr. Plunkett in his interview.

“Rise In Salmonella Will Prod Obama on Stalled Food Regs” by Greg Ryan appeared in the July 30, 2012 edition of Law360. To read the full article, please visit www.law360.com
