Michael J. Guthrie concentrates his practice on intellectual property matters. He has significant experience in preparation and prosecution to issuance of United States and foreign patents in a variety of electrical and mechanical arts, including areas such as: computer systems, software, downhole telemetry systems, valves, pumps, hydraulic fracturing methods, microprocessor architecture, semiconductor devices, seismic systems, communication systems, distributed networking systems, and medical devices.
Mr. Guthrie also counsels clients involved as both plaintiff and defendant in infringement and contract suits in district courts around the country. He has participated in every aspect of litigation, including investigating facts and claims, managing discovery, taking depositions, drafting and arguing motions, selecting expert witnesses, and taking witness testimony during trial.
Mr. Guthrie has also prepared legal opinions, license agreements, freedom-to-use analysis, non-disclosure agreements, and settlement agreements.
Prior to law school, Mr. Guthrie served as a surface warfare officer in the United States Navy.
