Alan Lieberman has nearly 40 years of experience in both government service and private practice. With this extensive background, Mr. Lieberman addresses and solves significant litigation, regulatory, and enforcement matters for clients.
As a former Assistant United States Attorney in Philadelphia, where he was chief of the White Collar and Public Corruption Unit (1973-1978), and a trial lawyer for the Securities and Exchange Commission’s Division of Enforcement in Washington, D.C. (2004-2014), Mr. Lieberman is adept at understanding and handling the most complex matters. He has successfully tried to verdict criminal tax fraud and grand jury perjury cases, both as a federal prosecutor and defense counsel, which is a distinctive experience.
Mr. Lieberman represents 40 Act Registrants, public companies, senior executives, and professionals in a variety of SEC, corporate litigation, and white collar matters, including:
- SEC enforcement and compliance
- private equity
- financial reporting and accounting fraud
- planning and executing internal investigations
- advising corporate boards and audit committees on governance and compliance issues
- civil and criminal RICO, defense and prosecution
- antitrust defense
- criminal tax fraud
In 1978, Mr. Lieberman was the recipient of the Attorney General's Award for Distinguished Service in recognition of “his outstanding performance in restoring public confidence in federal law enforcement by successfully investigating and prosecuting major cases of official corruption.”
Mr. Lieberman is an adjunct professor at Georgetown University Law Center. He recently authored a chapter in New Developments in Securities Litigation, 2015 ed. (Aspatore Books, Thomson Reuters, 2015).

Mr. Lieberman is an instrument-rated pilot who flies abused dogs rescued from quick-kill facilities to new homes along the I-95 corridor.
